We Choose Virtues is simply a TOOL. If you put it to work, you will be amazed by the results!
The genius of We Choose Virtues is in the catch-phrases. They “catch on”. Your kids will be quoting the Virtues from the very first day on, and more importantly, they will know how to put them into action in the real world. Both the Kids Collection and the Youth Collection use these phrases that are age-appropriate. Here is a sample of the Kids phrases.
The Virtue: Each Virtue is preceded by the words “I am.” Not “I hope to be” or “I wish I was”. “I am” creates positive momentum and a sense of personal ownership. “I am Content” for example.- The Catchphrase: More than just a definition, the catchphrases are positive, practical and precise action statements that form the core of this system. Use them throughout the day to reinforce right attitudes and actions. “I am Content. I have my ‘Wanter’ under control”.
- The Antonyms: The antonyms are a glimpse into the person they no longer want to be. These explain the negative form of the Virtue by using the phrases “I am not” and “I don’t”. “I am Content. I have my ‘Wanter’ under control. I am not bored, greedy or always wanting more and I don’t beg or whine!”

Tools for inspiring KIDS…Our Kids Collection is specifically for Early Education-Elementary kids (ages 3-11). The products are designed to use in a classroom or home setting, and can also be used one-on-one.
We Choose Virtues is not a unit study that you use once and then move on from. It is actually a character development tool that you use a little each and every day…like taking your Vitamins! You will be amazed how fast you will all learn to obey (not just learn what obedience is, but actually learn to obey!)…and 11 other Virtues too!
TEACHERS, first print off a Student Character Assessment for everyone in your class. If your school has a character education system in place, one of these Virtues will most likely reinforce what ever character quality you are already working on. Choose from our several Classroom Kits in either the Faith-Based or Community Versions. We encourage you to introduce one Virtue every week, preferably at the very beginning of each day for the first twelve weeks of school. This does not need to take a long time. 10 minutes is enough. You will be reinforcing the same Virtues over and over the entire year, so you will have plenty of time to thoroughly demonstrate, memorize and apply each one.It may help you to see a list of our individual Tools and Kits in this collection and compare the content of each one.
PARENTS and GRANDPARENTS, You will want to reinforce the Virtues over and over every day no matter where you are. Eventually they will be a part of your family’s lifestyle as you thoroughly demonstrate, memorize and apply each one. You can purchase our tools individually or in kits. Most of the products listed here are included in our Homeschool Kit. Here is how the pieces work together in order:
Put the Kids Virtue Poster on your fridge or a prominent place for easy reference. This is the foundation of our entire system. Every time you see your child showing their ‘Caterpillar ways” ask them to go to the Virtue Poster and find the antonym “I am Not” that they are doing and read the corresponding Virtue to you. When they receive correction and choose to change, they become butterflies!
Put up your Kids of VirtueVille Mini Posters in a place where your kids can enjoy them. Seeing them up will help everyone in the family memorize the catchphrases and antonyms. Find the hidden caterpillars and butterflies on each poster! Hint: There are the same amount as there are letters in the Virtue.
If you look at all the instructions you might ever give a child, they fall into three main categories. Honoring authority, Respecting other people and acts of service. The Three Rules Poster re-states these important rules for you in kid friendly language.
Choose one of 13 Parenting Cards to work on each day. The order you teach them in is up to you. You can take 10 minutes a day or an hour…it is up to you. Do the demonstrations on the back, teach your kids “What to say after ‘I’m sorry’” and look for opportunities to re-enforce this Virtue all day long. These cards are by far the most valuable part of this program. They are loaded with suggestions to simply inspire character that lasts!
Put up the 100 Days of Virtue Poster and butterfly stickers. Whatever Parenting Card you are teaching that morning is the family/homeschool “Virtue in Focus”. The order is not important. If everyone works together to choose it and use it all day, one sticker goes on that Virtue. There are a few days you get to put two butterflies stickers…just because everyone was that great! After 100 successful days, every caterpillar will be a butterfly and you get to celebrate!
Use the Flash Cards for memorization games. They come with scriptures or without. You can also take them along with you to help teach the Virtues on-the-go.
Another product you might like for travel or as a gift to your child is our Virtue Clue Cards. They are our smallest cards and have a challenge from the Kids of VirtueVille on the back.
Download and print a free Family Character Assessment. Talk to each child about where they are and where they need to be in their character development.
As your kids learn the Virtues and focus on using them as a family/homeschool, you can then assign them to your children individually. The pad of 25 Virtue User Reviews are a great way to remember their “Caterpillars” as well as their “Butterflies”. Post this note in a place they can see it daily. Remember to encourage them and correct them as needed.
The PDF Coloring Book is a fun way to help your kids remember what Virtue they are working on that day. Talk to them about the Virtue Kid and why they did the things they did. This is found in a story on the Parenting Cards.
During family devotions, around the dinner table or at bedtime, read the Bible stories suggested on the free Kids Memory Verses, Bible Heroes and Truths page that you can download for free. Any movie you watch, book you read, or conversation you have will provide opportunities to talk about Virtue.
There are 12 Virtues in the Early Childhood through Elementary set. They are…I am Diligent, I am Kind, I am Helpful, I am Obedient, I am Forgiving, I am Perseverant, I am Gentle, I am Patient, I am Self-Controlled, I am Content, I am Honest, and I am Attentive.

Tools for inspiring YOUTH…Our Youth Collection is specifically for 6th-12th grade kids (ages 12-18). The products are designed to use one-on-one with a mentor.
The mentoring tools were developed for a truancy court in Nampa, Idaho. The court was frustrated with their inability to effect any lasting change in the young people they saw before them month after month. They turned to We Choose Virtues to write a character-based mentoring journal to help them teach young people how to take personal responsablility for their attitudes and actions…and inspire them to change. The journal takes them on a positive and very insightful journey into their own thoughts, motives, relationships, and dreams for their lives.
PARENTS and GRANDPARENTS, this is a fabulous way to deepen your relationship with your teen. The Youth Virtue Journal provides a way to keep the conversation going and takes the sting out of evaluating and correcting issues that can effect your whole family. The lack of Virtue destroys relationships and sabotages dreams…but imagine what a little honesty and perseverance can do to fix that! You will enjoy going through this program together…and being willing to change together too!
- MENTORS and YOUTH LEADERS, If you love influencing young people to make great decisions that will positively affect the rest of their lives…then you need to check out our mentor program! Pick up a Mentor Handbook for yourself and a Youth Virtue Journal for each of the 11-18 year-olds you are mentoring. You won’t believe how fun and easy this program is! You will talk about their dreams, help them evaluate their use of Virtue in their life now, discuss what famous people have to say about Virtues, give some good advice of your own, and take time for them to respond. You and your protege’ will love it! Sit down for an hour twice a month and you will be amazed that you are simply inspiring character that lasts!
There are 9 Virtues in the Youth Set Volume 1. They are…I am Helpful, I am Obedient, I am Forgiving, I am Perseverant, I am Gentle, I am Content, I am Honest, I am Respectful, I am Attentive, with 9 more to come in Volume 2
